Back To Cruising
As brilliant weather was predicted for Easter, Play-Mate II, Osprey and Mac (new members Ian and Kay Puckridge with a McGregor without a name) decided a little time on the Murray was the way to go. Peace means a quiet river, few skiers and speedboats and Mobile Phones that do not work!
After launching on Good Friday we motored up river, and round a bend to escape a little wind. Ho! The perfect spot and some kind person had left us a pile of wood for the night fire. We needed plenty as “Johnny Genoa” is a known pyromaniac and thinks fires should always be bigger and better. It being such a great spot and we felt little need to move, we spent Saturday just sitting around and playing with the Osprey Chick (a small dinghy). A roast and fire baked bread was the order for Dinner on Saturday night and the Easter Bunny’s nest had to be in place before we went to bed.

Sunday dawned so warm the slow out of bed found the Bunny had been and the Sun was up and the eggs caved in! Melted eggs did not stop some seen eating toasted Hot Cross Buns in one hand and fingers into melted Chocolate with the other hand!
We decided to venture further up river on Sunday morning (After Macca of course) and two Farr’s were faced with a dilemma. Some one had taken the water away and left us High and Dry! This is where a McGregor with a big motor comes in most handy. With little effort and a couple of long ropes, the Farr’s were towed out into the main stream and on we travelled.
Sunday night was another excellent spot, a great fire and potatoes roasted in foil. Monday saw the Farr’s motor downstream and the McGregor quietly sailing in a goose-wing formation. Tuesday morning saw trailers retrieved and boats made ready for our trip home. All in all an excellent weekend, weather wise, food wise and company wise.
