Information for New Members

Meetings
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month, with the exception to January. They commence at 7:30pm for an 8pm start. The venue is the Henley Sailing Club, located at the end of Burbridge Road, Henley Beach. The meetings usually run for approximately two hours, having a formal agenda with a bit of fun thrown in.
A short talk by a guest speaker or club member is usually given at the end of each meeting. Members are asked to bring a basket supper, and where possible their own cup or mug. Bar facilities are available.

Bilgewater Magazine
This is our monthly publication detailing upcoming events, members contributions, cruise reports, minutes of monthly meetings, editorials, classified advertisements, and the names and contact telephone numbers of the current office bearers. You will normally receive this in the mail prior to the meeting or it can be down loaded here

Events
On water events consist of Cruising and Racing. Cruises are traditionally held at long weekends, Christmas Holidays and Easter. Venues are varied each year with Coffin Bay, Banks Group and trips to the eastern states being popular over Christmas.

The upper reaches of the Murray River are normally the venue for Easter cruises. Other cruises take in the lower reaches of the Murray River including the Goolwa and Coorong regions.
Cruise registers are available from the promotions committee, which detail cruise venues and show details of launching ramps, fuel, water and ice availability, and lots of other relevant information.

For both racing and cruising yachts (family orientated, without spinnakers) there are several events conducted. The “Rosebowl” is the Associations premier event, raced on a course between North Haven, Glenelg, and return, with cruising boats taking a shorter course. The “Grecian Cup”, “Funsail”, and the “Powderpuff” are annual races.

The Annual Presentation Dinner, Opening Day Picnic and the Christmas Party are three of our major off water events. Other events are sometimes introduced during the year
