Trailer Sailer Association of SA

Social

Social

Generally, all TSASA events have a social component. Having fun both on and off the water is an inherent part of our fabric. Often, spontaneous gatherings occur on one or another boat for snacks and drinks, or you may be invited to share a meal on another boat at anchor, watching the sun set over the horizon. That's what trailer sailing is all about!

The range of social events includes:-

Opening Day BBQ Picnic marks the beginning of the sailing season.

Monthly General Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month (except January) at the Henley Sailing Club commencing at 7:30 pm.  (Effective from the August 2026 Meeting)

The meeting is followed by a general social period, and the club bar is also available. Most meetings include an engaging guest speaker, making for a very enjoyable evening. Click on meetings for more details. See the Events page for more information about the next meeting.

General Meeting

Socialising is an integral part of every 'on water' event, with impromptu happy hours and shared meals on the beach or in another member's boat. When visiting other sailing clubs, particularly if staying overnight, it is usual for us to use the host club's restaurant or bar facilities.   Not only will you get to know other TSASA members quickly, but you will also meet members from other clubs and experience their welcome.

Especially during cruises, there is plenty of opportunity to get to know other members and foster lifetime friendships. Happy hour each evening is a time to share the experiences of the day, share snacks and a drink and relax watching the sun set.

Happy Hour can be the best part of the day.

Happy Hour

Christmas is celebrated with a Family Picnic and fun on the water, usually at Hindmarsh Island. Even Santa makes a special visit to this event!

The Annual Presentation Dinner is a fun night (see video below) with trophies for race winners and 'special prizes' for outstanding 'achievements' by members throughout the year.

You can also attend race or cruise events in your caravan if there is suitable access.

  • Even if you are not attending a racing event in your boat, you can join in the dinner generally held the night before the race at the host club.
  • Without a boat? You can crew on a member's boat for a race or even a cruise when a skipper needs an extra pair of hands on board.

Families are welcome and encouraged at not only social events but also on-water racing and cruising. We have some very competent young sailors amongst our membership.

Some of our cruises also include a theme, special activity, or competition, such as an Easter egg hunt during the Easter cruise, cooking competitions over the campfire, including best scone or bread for the cruise, all done with a sense of fun. Refer to the cruise section for more details.
